“Pastor R. D. Bernard shares his heart and his church during the COVID-19 crisis in his book Pastoring through a Pandemic. His actions and beliefs are inspiring. His church is to be commended for its love for other members and for the whole community. Because of his leadership, his church is a shining example of how a church should respond to any crisis. I feel sure Pastor Bernard would say it was because of God’s leadership and not his leadership. However, he is the man God used to lead his church in being examples of the love of Christ. His wisdom is seen in his writing. The book begins with several testimonies from church members. Then it goes into readings taken from his personal journal during the period from March to June 2020.

“Pastor R. D. Bernard has authored an inspiring book concerning the actions taken by his church during the COVID-19 crisis. In Pastoring through a Pandemic, the reader will be thrilled by the testimonies from church members of the faithfulness of God. They will find insight into the often misunderstood life of a pastor. They will learn that pastoring is hard and so much more than working 3 hours a week. Of importance to other pastors as well as congregants is the list of the four principles that guided decisions during this challenging time. The four are: 1) remember that the Word of God is the foundation; 2) control what you can; 3) avoid a bunker mentality; and 4) keep close watch over the flock. This book is a fantastic guidebook for all pastors.”
